Brown was in the Air Force for 23 years and highly decorated. He was a VA counselor in Sioux Falls. One of the things Brown enjoyed was taking the paralyzed vets pheasant hunting. Brown passed away unexpectedly on Halloween of 2011. Chris Menzies, Brown’s brother, wanted to do something to preserve Brown’s passion. “He had a great heart, so we reached out to the PVA in Sioux Falls and offered to fund one of the PVA pheasant hunts if they would name it in his honor. They renamed what was known as the Top Gun hunt, The Doug Brown Memorial Hunt.” -The Miner County Pioneer Newspaper, Vol. 169, Issue 39.
