SD Code Talker Memorial Highway Dedicated
Nearly 106 miles of U.S. Highway 18 has been designated as the Sicangu Lakota
Code Talker Memorial Highway. The Memorial Highways application was approved by the Transportation Commission at their June 29, 2023 meeting. The highway designation runs through Todd, Tripp, and Gregory counties, along with the Rosebud Indian Reservation. The Sicangu Lakota Code Talker designation on Highway 18 is from just east of the Todd-Bennett County line to the Fort Randall Dam near Pickstown; and runs through the communities of Bonesteel, Burke, Gregory, Colome, Winner, and Mission.
